About the Role:
As a Staff Software Developer, Backend on KOHO’s Tech team, you will be a technical leader in the KOHO payment ecosystem. You will help define the vision for payments at KOHO while improving the overall technology platform. Even though your main focus is the Payments ecosystem, the impact you will have will be felt and seen across the entire Tech team.

Our teams have a significant degree of autonomy and ownership, and we’re looking for someone with a high level of initiative. This is a fast-paced outcome-oriented environment! We are looking for collaborative developers like you who are eager to help other developers grow, never afraid to voice concerns, and always pushing for best practices. We are looking for you to own and help us improve our coding standards, testing practices, metric definitions, monitoring and alerting our system, and documentation guidelines.


What You’ll Do:

  • You will be defining, evolving, and leading the technical vision of the Payment domain
  • You will be an active contributor as a developer to the technical roadmap of the Payment domain
  • You will partner with managers and enable teams in the Payment domain by reviewing solution designs, providing a holistic view across all initiatives in the domain, and improving developer experience
  • You will lead initiatives in the organization with cross-domain impact
  • You will be owning and defining the production operation of payments services, monitoring our system, and helping define SLAs
  • You will have an active voice in reviewing department-level solution designs and architecture decision records
  • You will be mentoring and educating other developers on the team and accelerating their career growth
  • You will be participating in rotating on-call duties, including incident management


Who You Are:

  • You are solution-oriented - you identify problems, own them, and improve them!
  • You have extensive experience with Golang, Java, or similar backend programming language
  • You have extensive experience with REST APIs
  • You have experience working in the AWS ecosystem
  • You have experience defining and leading technical roadmaps
  • You are passionate about and have proven experience with documentation initiatives
  • You have experience improving developer experience
  • You have experience with microservice architecture and distributed systems
  • You have led others in a technical capacity
  • You have experience at a remote-first organization

A bonus if you have any experience or interest in the following!

  • Experience in Bank Ledgers, Payment Intent, and Fintech
  • Experience with ISO 8583 and Mastercard/Visa direct connection
